I Love You, Mama
~~~By Anne Phillips~~~
I Love You, Mama
Can you hear me?
I know you are there.
You just can't see me,
Cause I'm in here,
And you're out there.
We sure do make
a funny pair.
But Mama
Look how far
We have come.
I'm really starting
To be someone.
In just six weeks,
We have made my toes
And I already know
I will have your nose.
And there's something else
That you should know,
My little arms
are beginning to grow!
When I am born,
I can't wait to see
All the things that life
Has in store for me.
I might be a doctor, a lawyer,
A minister, or I might become
A famous musician.
Oh, if I had a voice,
I could be so loud,
I know all these things
would make you so proud.
What's that, Mama?
What did I hear?
That voice is causing me
so much fear.
Who is that man?
I don't know his voice....
And what did he mean,
"It's your own choice?"
Mama,
He can't be talking about me
There's so many things
I WANT TO BE.
Does this mean
I'll never breathe the air?
Or get the chance
to touch your hair?
This can't be so
after all we've been through.
For six whole weeks,
I've been part of you.
Mama, they're wrong!
Tell them you won't!
I WANT TO LIVE
PLEASE MAMA,  DON'T!!!
